Princess Perfect - The Sleeping Beauty

Once upon a time a beautiful little baby girl was born to the King and Queen of a faraway fairyland.
Their baby girl was pretty and happy and never did anything wrong, so the King and Queen called her Princess Perfect.
Princess Perfect was such a good baby. She smiled and giggled, and slept all night long, and everyone in the Kingdom loved her so much, they felt happy when they were near her.
When Princess Perfect was just three months old, the King and Queen held a special party for their baby girl, and invited seven fairies to be her fairy godmothers. These seven fairies each had a very special gift to give to their goddaughter.
The first fairy gave her the gift of beauty, she waved her wand over Princess Perfect and said "you will be as pretty as can be".
The second fairy gave her the gift of being a special friend, again spreading magic with her fairy wand and saying "you will be a special friend indeed, and everyone you meet will love you as their true friend".
The third fairy was a very happy fairy, and wanted Princess Perfect to share in her happiness. She gave her the magical gift of always being happy.
The fourth and fifth fairies just loved performing, so they gave Princess Perfect the gift of perfect dancing feet and a singing voice so sweet.
Then the sixth fairy came towards Princess Perfect, and with a very special wave of her wand, decided that her gift should be to make her goddaughter as clever as can be, because the sixth fairy was very, very clever!
What gorgeous gifts the fairy godmothers had given Princess Perfect - but wait - there were seven fairy godmothers … what special gift was Fairy Twinklestar going to give?
Well, you see, Fairy Twinklestar had seen a witch come into the party, and she wasn't a very nice witch at all. The little fairy had heard the witch muttering angrily that she should have been a fairy godmother too, and was worried that she might do something horrid, so with a wave of her wand, Fairy Twinklestar made herself invisible and stayed close by the horrid witch … just in case.
It was a good thing that she had. After the six fairy godmothers had given Princess Perfect their special gifts, the horrid old witch jumped out and said "I should have been a fairy godmother … and because you made such a big mistake, I'm going to give this child another gift. On her 16th birthday she will prick her finger with a needle and fall down, never to wake up again.
As the wicked witch cackled away, the seventh fairy, Fairy Twinklestar waved her wand and in a burst of fairy glitter was visible again. "Stop! That's a horrid thing to do, old witch. My magic isn't strong enough to fix that, but it is strong enough to send you away, never to come back here again!"

And in a burst of fairy glitter, the wicked witch disappeared, her cackling never to be heard again.
Although the King and Queen and all of the guests were pleased that the wicked witch was gone, they were so very, very upset at the horrid gift she had given to their Princess Perfect.
"Whatever can we do to stop this?" said the Queen, crying sadly.
Fairy Twinklestar gave the Queen a big hug. "I can't stop the nastiness completely, but I can make it better", she said. If Princess Perfect is pricked by a needle, she will fall into a deep, deep sleep, but one day, her Prince Charming will see her, and he will fall instantly in love with her, and when he gently kisses her on the cheek, she will wake up and be happy for ever more!
For many years, Princess Perfect lived a beautiful life. The six gifts that her fairy godmothers had given to her meant that she was pretty, happy and clever, loved to dance and sing, and was a special friend to all of the children and animals in the fairyland kingdom.
Princess Perfect was never told about the horrid gift the wicked witch had given her, but her mummy and daddy, the King and Queen, were very careful to make sure there were no needles or pins anywhere in the castle, except, of course, in the sewing room.
This was a room where the clever fairies inside made beautiful clothes for the King, the Queen and the Princess. The seven fairy godmothers had put a special enchantment on the door so that it was always invisible, but they didn't realise that when Princess Perfect turned 16, she was so clever she could see through magic enchantments.
The birthday girl was skipping through the castle when she came across the sewing room and, rather surprised by her discovery, knocked lightly on the door, then gently opened it to look inside.
Oh dear, I think you can imagine what happened next.
Princess Perfect saw the beautiful dresses that the fairies were making, and really wanted to try to sew herself, but the minute that she picked up a needle, she pricked her finger and the wicked witch's curse came true. Princess Perfect fell into a deep, deep sleep, and not even the fairies could wake her up.
The King and Queen were so very, very sad, and they gently carried her to her pretty princess bedroom and laid her on the bed. They cried so much, that when the seven fairy godmothers came to visit, the fairies decided the very best thing to do was to make the whole kingdom fall asleep until Princess Perfect's Prince Charming came along.
Magic fairy wand so dear
We need a spell that's very clear
Please help the lovely king and queen
Join the land of sleepy dreams
Until a handsome prince arrives
To bring his princess back to life
And the seven fairy godmothers waved their wands together, and in a burst of fairy dust, everyone in the kingdom fell asleep. Even the chickens in the yard, the puppies playing in a basket, the horses in the stable - all of the people and animals started snoring softly.
A long time passed, until one day, a handsome prince was riding his beautiful horse past the gates of the kingdom, and decided to visit the King and Queen and ask if he may have a glass of water, because he was very thirsty.
To his surprise, he found everyone in the land of sleepy dreams! He wandered around calling out "hello, is anybody awake!", but nobody answered him. Finally after walking through many long passageways, the handsome prince came across an open door, and looking through the door he saw the most beautiful girl he had ever seen in his whole life.
Princess Perfect had a little smile on her face as she slept, like she was dreaming of the prettiest dreams, and the handsome prince fell to his knees next to her and took her hand in his.
"Oh my sleeping beauty," the handsome prince whispered, as he leant over and gently kissed Princess Perfect on her soft cheek.
And with that one little, special kiss, the wicked witch's horrid gift was broken and Princess Perfect slowly opened her eyes and smiled at the handsome Prince.
The Prince and Princess were married that very same day, and lived happily ever after!
